Getting the professionals in

We're constantly dreaming of winning just enough money on the lottery so we can do some extension work on the House of Love - and maybe fix all the bits still held together with tin foil. We have no control of the lottery, but we can start turning those dreams into drawings. Luckily our architect is also my step-dad so there's no lottery win necessary to get the house surveyed and planned up.

Yay, thank you John Pass!

Table part one

You may remember that Jon and John found a coffee table when they started boarding the loft. Well now that we've got our sitting room looking super we thought we'd have a go at turning that table top into a coffee table.

So now we just need some legs. Answers on a postcard please.

Final curtain pole!

Nearly a year after we got our new windows fitted we have finally erected the last curtain pole. Nothing more to add. Except maybe in a years time I will have made some curtains.

Fire!

After getting our chimney swept, it was about time we lit a fire. But we didn't have a fire basket and we just wanted to make sure it all worked before we spent the £s on fire accessories. Jon had a brainwave - let's try the chimenea that we inherited from Tim and Laura when they left Walthamstow.

It's a bit like having an expensive wood burning stove, but a bit more diy House of Love style.

Toasty!

Getting set for a cozy winter snuggling up

We've moved the siting room round to make it feel more cosy, we've got the stereo set up, I have blankets a plenty and now we're going to have an open fire too. It's over a year since we made the fireplace look a bit nicer and now, finally we got the chimney swept.

Here is the very nice A J Coles with a well earned cup of tea after using his giant Henry style hoover to suck out all the sooty stuff. Luckily for us, he gave us the all clear to have an open fire without needing any repair work for the chimney.

Now all we need is a suitably lovely fire basket - seems like a job for Stephen Lloyd to me!

Song of Reproduction

We've been on holiday so that's why we've been quiet for a while. But the holiday has given us time to plot House of Love changes and the first comes in the shape of a sitting room shuffle.

We want to have our stereo in the sitting room, rather than tucked away in the music room, so that we can listen to music when people come over and they'll think we're still young and trendy and that we don't just listen to Radio 4 ALL THE TIME*

So even though I measured everything very accurately I forgot about the poorly laid and pointless second skirting board. So that had to come up!

Hammond and bureau switch-a-roo!

and now I can listen to Flanders and Swann! Oh yes, this is our second F&S themed post; I told you we were actually young and trendy!

P.s. the post title come from a song title off the first record we listened to on our new Hi-fi set up. You need to listen to it to understand - it's not about sex; get your minds out of the gutter people!

*We also sometimes listen to 6music, which by the way has a very amazing playlist.

Keep on boarding

Jon's keeping up the good work and adding a few more loft boards in the evenings. What a trooper!

Hasn't he done a lot!
