Chester Drawers

We bought these when we lived in Cambridge over 5 years ago. Since we got them from the Sally Ann shop I have been planning to paint them - we never got round to it. So I am very proud to say that Jon has finally painted them.

The very useful sander from Neville.

Amazing colour mixed for us at Colvin's as suggested by the nice man at Arts and Crusts.

Doesn't it look smart under our lovely yellow trugs

p.s. for reasons unknown people on the local Freecycle group always refer to a 'Chest of Drawers' as 'Chester Drawers' - amazing!

From keyboards to yellow trugs

Not only has Jon been kicked out of his room but now his keyboard storage system has been repurposed too; Jon and his Dad used it to make some new shelves.

Scandi white floor like on all those proper interior design blogs

The music room is being repurposed ready for an imminent arrival (well not before Jan 28th we hope). So this seemed like a good opportunity to try and emulate some of those lovely rooms you see on proper blogs about amazing homes. After much deliberation we opted for a white floor to make the room look big and airy.

Using Neville's sander to make light work of the floor boards

Coat hooks

For over 2 years, we've kept our coats on the louvre doors into the kitchen. Not any more!

Stephen brought us down some lovely wood and old hooks to make an amazing coat rack.

I managed to persuade them not to drill on the coffee table, so they did it on the hall floor instead. Jon nearly drilled through the laminate but not quite - phew!

positioning the rack

AMAZING!

Bathroom storage

The music room is being dismantled. This means all the furniture needs to be redistributed throughout the rest of the house. This rather nice shelving unit from the family home on Stratford Road has found it's way into the bathroom. Super storage!

Getting ready for Christmas

It's time for the annual House of Love Christmas blog post! So much better than a card.

The advent calendar is out and we've even been given a poinsettia this year. Still not found any white, fur trimmed parkers to wear though.
